Fearless by Max Lucado

Posted on 20 January 2010 by the journalist

It has taken me a while to write this review.  I didn’t like it.  I understand that people ask the age old question “Why are we here?” almost every day.  But to say that we have nothing to fear and that we should walk around fearless.  It insulted me.

Fear makes us aware.  Without fear, people would do whatever their wanted.  Without fear, consequences and reprisals would not exist.  Without those, we would live in mayhem.  So live without fear, you tell me?  No thank you.

Without even the slightest bit of fear there can be no respect.  Would you respect a god that you didn’t think would have some say in your afterlife?

I seriously don’t understand how you could have gotten insulted by this book. Did you read the whole book? Better yet, did you even open it? If you would have read it you would have understood what the author was talking about when he says “Imagine your life without fear”… It’s not fear that is stopping us from doing whatever we want, it’s self control and discipline. This book is talking about the fears that keep us up at night and the fears that cause anxiety and worry. Max Lucado reminds us that with God in our lives we know we’re going to be ok. No matter what’s going on around us, God is there with us through it all.
